4 Stars Good product but information on what is included is lacking
I purchased this and could not find anywhere (on Amazon or Garmin sites) that the product came with a car (cigarette lighter) charger. Because the product didn’t list a car charger, I assumed it did not come with one and bought one for ~$20. However, when the product arrived, there was a charger included. Would have been nice to know ahead of time.
Other than that, the Garmin nuvi 780 is everything it said it would be. We love it.
3 Stars Overall O.K. but Some Flaws
I bought this product with high expectations and it does meet most of them. However, it never sends me the shortest or the quickest routes when I know where I am going–BUT it does get me to the destination. I was diappointed that it didn’t show the rivers in the areas where I was traveling. A lot of the maps are not up to date. All that being said, I would probably still buy it again–I just take the short falls into consideration when I travel. This is my first GPS of this type that I have owned so I can’t compare it to similar items. I would subscribe to the Travel and News site but it does not support the doplar radar.
4 Stars Nice unit- I’d buy it again
We just got back from a car show three states away. This is a great, user-friendly GPS. We’ve had three different ones, and this one wins hands down. Like all of them we have owned, every now and then it has a glitch (telling me to drive past the hotel entrance) but it took us through strange cities without any trouble. We are very happy- I’m going to buy another one like it for my daughter.
5 Stars Nuvi 780
Purchased this as a replacement for a Nuvi 600 series unit. I enjoy it’s ease of use and find it to be very simple to learn and program. We use it extensively for travel and to support our GeoCaching hobby. It works extremely well with large group of custom POI’s on the external data card, right now I have close to 3000 custom POI’s on an external card and system works seamlessly with the data on the card. My wife has a GPS system in her vehicle and prefers the Nuvi over the built in system
