User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Garmin Nuvi 205
Easy to use out of the box. Quick battery charge and you are ready to go. Simple to use and requires no manual to do the basics. I also bought the portable friction dash mount which works very well.

4 Stars Good product
I have this from 8 months and using it all the time. The maps are accurate, it loads fast. I don’t like the fact that if you get to a road block/repair it won’t give you alternative routes and even if you will try to go around it will try to take you back, of course, because it doesn’t have an option to a second route. The rest is perfect, no problems whatsoever.

4 Stars Great GPS
Great system. I had the same model prior to leaving it in a rental car, so I purchased another one. Needless to say I remember to keep the lock key on the Garmin now when not in use.

4 Stars Totally Satisfied
I received my Garmin nuvi 205, 3.5 inch GPS in a timely manner. All was fine. I have since taken a trip to California and used the unit in my rental car. The unit performed fine and as expected. The price was right and the only advice I can offer is that is someone is going to use their GPS frequently, I recommend that consideration be given a unit that announces the street name. My unit does not and I knew this at time of purchase so it was not a concern since I will only use this unit occasionally.

I do have one negative comment. The instructions with my unit said that I would receive the latest map download if I attempted to obtain the download in 60 days from first usage. I attempted the download during the first week of purchase and received a message that I was not eligible. I do not understand why, and have not pursued this matter any further as my unit is only for occasional use.

5 Stars great model, exceeds expectations
I recently purchased the nuvi 205 because I wanted a quality GPS with basic functions for an upcoming vacation. It turned out to be a great choice.

Her the pros:

- The unit calculates routes lightning fast, much fast than older nuvi models

- The speaker is loud and clear. In fact, I had to turn down the volume to 50% for my normal commute driving

- The windshield suction mount works well, big improvement to older units

- I did not miss the verbal street announcements at all. The next turn is clearly listed on the screen. I am glad I saved the money.

- The speed limit and current speed indicators are neat

The cons:

- The map database seems to have some issues. This is probably not particular to this unit.

- It seems to lose the destination when adjusting options, such as the volume. This may be my error though, since I never read the manual and was operating it while driving.
