4 Stars vent holder for garmin nuvi
I have used this mount for a couple of months now. It works great in my dash vent. Makes the gps easy to reach. It is a little flimsy in construction so you will need to be gentle when installing it. Once it is in position I think you will be happy with it.I know I am.
3 Stars Acceptable, but definitely not ideal.
The spring-loaded clips of the i.Trek Vent Mount do hold onto vent slats well, but the little “kick-stand” brace on the bottom is useless–at least in my vehicle. It would appear that this brace is supposed to rest against some sort of ledge below your car’s vents (presumably a seam in your vehicle’s control panel or the upper moulding of your radio/CD player), adding support to the unit. Unfortunately, I have no idea what specific vehicle control panel this is supposed to work with, since every brand of car has a different layout. It won’t work in my Nissan Pathfinder, that’s for sure. There’s no such ledge below any of the vents–at least, not one upon which this brace can effectively anchor. Therefore, the i.Trek Vent Mount just sags from my vents, holding on for dear life with its two spring-loaded clips, and thus my Garmin n?vi 265WT GPS navigator must be tilted upwards about 45 degrees to be visible. I will probably toss this hunk of plastic aside and just use the standard suction cup windshield mount that was included with the GPS system.
5 Stars Works with Vertical Vents, too
I called i.Trek and asked if the spring-loaded clips on the IG-A03 could be turned 90 degrees for use on vertical vents. i.Trek said yes, they could but they did not recommend because the mount can’t hold the weight adequately.
I went ahead and bought the unit anyway (you can’t go wrong for only $5 delivered). You know what? The IG-A03 works great in my Honda Ridgeline in the vertical vent just left of the steering wheel.
4 Stars Good, not great…
I have been trying to get my Garmin Nuvi 350 off the windshield and out of sight…I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier…this little bracket was less than six dollars, postage included, and was delivered in less than a week…actually it is perfect for what I needed, it is sturdy enough for a 350 and holds it at a better location, on the second a/c vent, almost invisible from outside…it has an adjustable and locking ball mount…the a/c vent now points down due to the weight of the GPS but the unit is closer to my right hand and my glance from the road to look at or tap it is less than it was…here’s the only problem…I like to remove the Nuvi each time I leave the vehicle, not only to deter theft but to reduce exposure to the intense heat of the SC sun…the bracket is difficult and tricky to remove from the vent without breaking one or the other and the ball joint is very tight, it’s next to impossible to just separate the unit from the bracket at the ball joint…I guess I’ll work on it and think of something, maybe sand the ball joint down…my advice is to try it, it’s only $6, fits many different units, see the listing.
5 Stars It WORKS!!!
Best price and most of all, it WORKS on my Honda Accord!!!!! I do not understand why Garmin GPS can’t come up with something like this. The original mount that attaches on the window never worked. This one mounts on the vent, very stable, and on the eye level. You can see better as it is closer to your eyes.
