User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Used it in Europe
We have recently used it during our trip to UK and Ireland. Worked perfectly flawless. Made our trip more enjoyable because we don’t have to worry about directions. Little annoying at some time when the car symbol which was used by us to show our location on the screen does not transition smoothly to the direction and we thought that we have made a wrong turn.

5 Stars Low Price, feature packed, Europe trip was a brizz
Hey,

for mere $149 + shipping, this last minute addition to my Eastern Europe trip, planned with a rental car, turned into a pleasure that really made me proud of my purchase. No maps, no asking directions, no getting lost.

Fellow travelers, if you like to be effiecient …think about it.. why would you drive a car without a gadget like this anywhere in the western hemisphere ? or even take long walk in a country where no one speaks your language ?

3 Stars Not accurate
I have found this GPS to only be accurate about 50% of the time. A few times, just playing with it, I’d enter a place I was going that I already knew how to get to and thank goodness I did because if I had followed the GPS directions, I never would have arrived at my destination. Disappointing.

5 Stars OMG
This gadget revolutionized my recent driving trip in France!

I would never drive in Europe (or anywhere unknown, for that matter) without a GPS.

I put nearly 3000 miles on my rental car in three weeks and “The Girl” got me everywhere I needed to go. It even locates French “Lieu Dits” which are groups of country houses with no address. I was also able to enter coordinates of a friend’s country house (again, no address) from Google Earth and I drove right to the front door!

It’s not completely effortless and I would recommend having a paper map on hand in order to get a bird’s eye view of your trip, but once you get the hang of it, the routes and guidance are practically flawless. And even if you make a bad turn or get confused, it still results in much less time behind the wheel that if you were using old fashioned navigation using a paper map.

I read many of the reviews here and never had a problem with satellite acquisition or bad directions. While some of the routes seemed counterintuitive, if you just let The Girl do her thing, you’ll arrive at the programmed destination.

Added plusses: the speedometer which was more accurate than the car’s; the traffic cam alerter; super accurate arrival time which is key in Europe where distance and time only vaguely related; the British voice option in English.

Disclaimer: I never used the GPS while walking.

5 Stars Getting There with Garmin nuvi 270
This GPS was a fine addition to our recent trip to The Netherlands. Finding one’s way around The Hague or Haarlem can be difficult, but the Garmin nuvi 270 was remarkable in its accuracy, and quite easy to use. My only complaint relates to the small (and multilingual) instruction booklet, which does not even attempt to explain some of the functions of which the nuvi 270 is capable. The software is prepared for either American or European use, and it was a simple process (expose the instrument to the sky) to switch from one to the other.
