5 Stars Affordable – charges iPod Touch – great sound!
I purchased this for my 1st Gen iPod Touch to use in a car that I bought on ebay and drove back home – 1200 miles. The car is an Acura RL – no aux input on the radio. The radio is very high end with bose speakers so I did not want to switch any OEM equipment out just to play my iPod. The advice from Eric Williams to change the adapter to work in international mode is very useful advice. Do that first and you will love this little unit. I have tried several other FM modulators and they all have weaknesses, but this one charges my iPod as it’s plugged in, and the sound quality is almost perfect. At 87.9 it is working great. You will have some cross talk at times where a station may leak into your sound if a station is strong enough to interfere, but take a moment to set a few other presets and it works just fine. Trust me, I had 16 hours of driving with this thing, there are virtually no radio stations in Northern TX, OK, MO and IL that I drove through and this saved my sanity for sure. I was tempted to buy a “hard wired” FM modulator and have it installed, but I have read that many of those knock out your AM band, and cause interference with your other FM radio stations and in some cases disables the remote CD player – none of those options sounded good to me. So I have a totally stock set up with this and it sounds awesome! Note: everytime you turn off the car if your cig lighter shuts off, this unit will power down, your ipod will pause, this unit will need you to press the preset button to set the station when you power it up again. It does retain all your presets. It becomes routine, but at first it was frustating to me because I thought I had lost all my settings, but it did not.

As inexpensive as this was I was worried it wouldn’t work very well, but I am pleased with how clear the music is and how easy it is to use. I wish it had some kind of holding device for the ipod, but other than that it is a great device.

Currently working with vendor to receive a new one or exchange for a different product. Product does not charge as specified. Vendor has been fabulous to work with though!
3 Stars It’s decent for the price
It’s an average product. I thought that it would work with the iPhone and act as an iphone charger as well, but it does not. IT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE IPHONE. I followed the advice of another reviewer and set it to international mode. It works fine but only if you’re going to be in the car for over 30 mins. If you’re getting in and out of the car the device is more of a hinderance.
2 Stars not as good as the old version
I previously had the original version of the Griffin iTrip that I bought about 3 years ago, and I loved the way it sounded.. so, when I lost it, I figured I’d just buy the exact same one. I saw that they had updated it a bit, and I thought that meant that it would only be better than the original version that I had. Wrong. This one sounds terrible! I get so much static noise. Also, please don’t recommend that I do the whole International version trick because my car doesn’t tune to stations that low. I’m very surprised that the original version of this device worked better than the supposedly new and improved version does.
