User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Archos 7 is great
I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I use it every day, I have old swat katz, xmen, and thundercats episodes, and it works great. Also, if you purchase the additional upgrade, you can copy dvd files to it and watch them. awesome product!

5 Stars The Best Media Tablet in the world
it think it’s the best media tablet in the world because you can play all your different types of videos with it (even if it won’t be able to play them you can buy the codes immediately from [...] or by your device if you have access to internet), the screen quality is really good, you can go over the internet with it as well. Also you can watch your PDF, Pictures (JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF,…) files, Games and … with this device as well.

5 Stars the archos 7 is a great tool
for the record i have had the archos 605 and the 705 and recently have bought the new archos 7 .they all performed about the same the 7 might be a little faster, as it has a faster processor.the screen resolution is better too.the price has come down on these players and i say buy one if had your eyes one one.never experienced any of the major issues described by other users, seems like they are too critical, my only issue was freezing up, fairly rare though, what can you expect these are tiny computers with big features. the 7 will fit in your jeans back pocket.nothing beats archos for internet browsing, movies, web radio, etc.at a small size it cant be beat, with the huge 160 gb(or 250) hard drive you can load lots of movies, pics, music, never a dull moment when you have an archos 7.So for the record i vave owned 3 archos players and i gotta say other some other reviewers are to critical and cannot be happy with anything.Alvin sh

1 Star Don’t make a mistake like me!
I have bought one Archos 605 wifi and two Archos 7′s with the DVR Station and they all were sent back. As much as I wanted these media players to work they were just a big let down. I have three other Insignia players that have worked fine for many years. I even bought a new laptop hoping the Archos 7 would sync to the Vista Home Premium Windows media player. The DVR station using the Archos 7 would not sync to my local channel guide. After hours with tech support, which by the way is at least a 30 minute wait on the phone, I was totally unable to get the things working correctly. To add insult to injury, I had purchased the Cinema plug-in for 19.95, which you must have to view most video, and even though I sent the Archos back and showed proof with a confirmation e-mail from Amazon.com, they would not refund the purchase of the plug-in to my credit card! They would be great devices if they did half of what they say they will! I highly advise Amazon to drop Archos from their list of media players. Can I give this product no stars?!

1 Star Poor Customer Service
Archos 7 worked fine on the first day I received it. On day 2 it would not charge. Called customer service, had to wait about 45 minutes. They said the battery was bad. I asked if they could send a new one. They told me I had to return the unit. I asked if they could send a new one and I put the broken one in the box and return it. They said no. So I had to package it take it to UPS and send it at a cost of $38.00. Still waiting for repaired unit. During the one day the unit did work I found I had to purchase additional codecs at 20 bucks apiece to even play the movies I loaded on it. Seems you have to buy every little application, games, etc. Could not get the codecs though as their web site would not take my charge card. Card worked fine to purchase the Archos 7, and is still working fine for everything else. Called them on that and they just said it must be my charge card Co. Purchased the Archos 7 on 8/13/06, it is now 9/11/09. Still waiting for unit to come back. [...] I gave up checking the status of the unit. Their web site informs you they have the unit in the warehouse, but it could be a long wait depending on how many units they have in the Que. Does that mean they are flooded with broken units? Wish I had read the reviews before ordering unit. Seems a lot of other people have had trouble with their customer service and broken units.
