User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Probably would not buy again
It seems easy enough to use, but I am not impressed with the image quality nor the disk burning. You have to be extremely careful with the disks to not get them dirty or scratched—-with kids this isn’t always the easiest. I am not excited about the fact that you also have to buy the internal card from only Sony for a mere 50-100 dollars a crack. I have a lot of trouble with the disks skipping and altering the voices too. I am going to try and return it.

2 Stars Poor audio quality
I bought this to record my son’s rock concerts. I’m giving this item 2 stars because of the very poor audio quality…I would give it 1 star but the video quality is OK and I understand that not everyone buys a camcorder for its audio quality for recording loud events.

It is fine for very low volume live venues with no drums or bass but is horribly distorted when the volume goes up and/or there’s drums or bass.

I tried everything in the manual, including the “low mic” setting and recording in the highest quality…I even located the camera in areas furthest from the speakers and nothing improved the quality…truly useless audio.

I contacted Sony and was simply told to “reset” the camcorder and if that doesn’t work I would need to send it to them for repair. I tried the reset and it did not improve.

I suppose this camcorder is suitable for recording Christmas get togethers, graduations, and quiet vacations but it didn’t work for what I bought it for. I’ll stick with my old VHS-C Panasonic workhorse, which has never let me down.

The Sony is being returned.

2 Stars Randy Turner
Recording on the disc is simple, play back was easy, but soon after playback on my TV the disc returns to set up for a new recording. I am unable to view my recordings the second time or to transfer to my computer. I am unhappy with the product I purchased

5 Stars Excellent..
We love to cruise and I wanted something to capture the experience, without have any computer skills to speak of…

I wanted something to just record and play on the DVD and this was great. Very simple to use, just record and play in the DVD player. Excellent picture and sound!

I also bought the case and extra Sony DVD’s, again excellent!

1 Star Disappointed
Every review I’ve read has said that this camera has great picture quality, but I’ve found the quality to be so poor it’s almost unbearable to watch the videos. Unless I’m doing something wrong and have the settings on my camera set up incorrectly, the video is just so grainy and so is the pictures.
